No Panty- Westside Highway Story A- 90

cover

Well, I guess that Latin rap is back. I kinda missed that shit yo! Terror Squad was popping about 15 years back with Pun, Seis, Armageddon, Cuban Link, and Fat Joe. Also, radio host Angie Martinez popped off with a few hit records and dope albums. Those niggas was dope and as of today all the Latin community has is Joell Ortiz, Nitty Scott & Bodega Bamz. They combined to make “No Panty” me personally I wish they could have came up with a better name than that but fuck it new Ortiz and Nitty verses and Salaam Remi production. LMAO! Bodega Bamz is someone I’ve heard of, but never heard and he’s a dope compliment to the group. But enough of that introduction let’s get to it.

Hola [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

This shit is tough tone with the Hip Hop Sample. This one of my favorite samples the Run-DMC shit. Bodega hook is ridiculous. Latin version of Dey Know ha! LOL! All 3 rappers bring it no flaws all bars. Joell is always gonna bring it so no worries. Nitty is always been incredible. Bodega adds the swagger to the group. This song is hella NY.

Singin’ My Song [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

Another dope sample. Slick Rick “Mona Lisa”. Nitty, Joell and Bodega smashed this shit too. I’m still singing “Bodequa I know they singing my song” This got that old school late 80’s early 90’s hip hop feel to it make the hardest gangsta dance.

Spanish Fly [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

Well Salaam makes an easy Latin bounce where the 3 MC’s showcase their Latin lingo and expertise flow. Shit dope. I think this shit way too short doe.

Westside Highway Story [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

Another Latin bounce flow however Joell, Nitty and Bodega tells the story of a relationship situation they had with the opposite sex. Definitely West Side Story influenced. Bodega kinda messes this song up no offense. Joell and Nitty executed well and Bodega stumbles about his broad leaving him for Joell.

Iceys On Deck [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

This definitely could have been on the “Do The Right Thing” soundtrack. Sounds like that 100 degree day out in New York sweating and the Ice Man comes through shaving the ice for them little syrup flavored ice cups. The “No Panty” trio definitely got the Icey’s On Deck sounds like a good idea for a business.

Mother’s Mark [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

This song deep as fuck man. Each MC tells a story of their hardships with their mother’s and their current relationships with them. A story of forgiveness, love, and triumph. How their mother’s choices shaped each rapper to how they ended up becoming grown.

Built Like This [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

More NY sounding shit. I mean it’s cool each MC details their swagger and where they get their styles from. Not the best song on here by any means but it’s a better filler than most niggas albums these days.

Shots [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

Dope latin Sample by Salaam much respect. The hook by Nitty Scott is the highlight of this mixtape dog. She shouts out all the ball players in the form of shots to drink. This is a low key pregame/turn up type song. It’s a more hip hop laid back version hood version of Lil Jon- Shots minus the up-tempo and more of a laid back two step. Easily my favorite song on here.

Gato [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

Just straight rap and no hook just sounds like a BET Cypher type thing. Each MC doesn’t slack.

Levitate [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

No Nitty? Meh probably the weakest song on the tape but it’s a solid song nonetheless.

Rrraahh [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

BLLLLLLLAAT! Definitely some NY shit right here. Bodega, Nitty, and Joell spitting some heat on this shit dog. With nothing but a bongo and a bass line. This shit was done in a week fam.

The Afterparty (Live At Jimmy’s Pt. 2) [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

A lot of niggas don’t understand ESPECIALLY THESE LIL UZI VERT YACHTY dicksucking niggas not even the Get Rich 50 fans get the slept on significance of the original “Live At Jimmy’s”. Angie Martinez had a record on her first album called “Live At Jimmy’s” it’s a Latin hip hop classic: It had Big Pun, Domingo, Sunkiss and Cuban Link. It’s a dope ass song. And they added some flavor to this version. The Big Daddy Kane sample and the hook from the original. Each MC pays a pretty decent tribute to the original song that sounds like you snuck into the wrong party full or Latins and Ricans and you started turning up anyway like that scene in 3 Strikes and shit.

No Panty Anthem [Prod. By Salaam Remi]

The party continues with this salsa manifesto. Probably gonna be the only song on my IPod you can salsa to besides “Maria” and both the “Live At Jimmy’s”. Extra Latin sauce and each MC can rap to this kinda shit showing the versatility.

Overall, this could have been a bit better but I’m happy that I came across this shit or else I would have never found out about this shit. So salute to Joell, Nitty and Bodega for putting this shit out.
